Philadelphia Eagles produce comeback victory over Jacksonville Jaguars

The Philadelphia Eagles score 34 unanswered points in the second half to come from behind and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in their opening match of the new NFL season.

The Philadelphia Eagles have come from 17 points behind to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-17 and begin their NFL season with a victory at Lincoln Financial Field.

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles suffered a terrible start to the season as he fumbled and lost the ball having been sacked by Chris Clemons on his side's opening possession.

The Jaguars were able to make the most of the turnover as Chad Henne found Allen Hurns with a deep pass into the endzone from 34 yards.

Things went from bad to worse for Foles shortly afterwards as he was once again sacked and fumbled the ball, allowing Jacksonville to gain a second turnover within nine minutes.

The visitors showed no mercy to their hosts and once more took full advantage, with the same duo combining as Hurns picked up his second score of the day.

Josh Scobee added a further three points at the start of the second quarter to give his side a 17-point lead, and they managed to hold on to that until half time.

The Eagles hit back in the second half and finally registered on the scoreboard early in the third quarter as Darren Sproles burst straight down the middle for a 49-yard touchdown.

The deficit was reduced to just three points midway through the third quarter as Foles threw a deep 25-yard pass down the middle for Zach Ertz, who leapt to catch the ball as he was crossing the line.

Cody Parkey levelled the scores with a field goal in the fourth quarter before Foles found Jeremy Maclin wide open down the middle for a 68-yard score that completed the turnaround.

Parkey added another field goal with just under two minutes remaining of the match, while Fletcher Cox completed the scoring with a 17-yard fumble return to seal a strong second-half display from his side.
