Adrian Peterson delighted with reinstatement decision

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson admits that he is elated with the decision to be reinstated back into the NFL after missing the majority of the 2014 season.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has revealed his delight with the decision to overturn his suspension from the NFL.

The 29-year-old was suspended by the league in November following his no contest plea to an incident of abusive discipline towards his son, with his immediate appeal to return to the NFL rejected after the court case.

However, US District Court Judge David Doty has overturned the decision of the league, which will allow Peterson to return to the field for the 2015 season.

"I was pleased to learn about Judge Doty's decision," Peterson wrote in a press release. "It is a positive step in protecting players' rights and preserving due process for all players. It also brings me one step closer to getting back on the football field and playing the sport I love.

"As I prepare for my return to football, I am still focused on my family and continue to work to become a better father every day.

"I want to express my gratitude for all of the support I have received from the fans, NFLPA, Jeffrey Kessler, and my agents Ben Dogra, Tracy Lartigue, and Mark Heligman from Relativity Sports."

Peterson has recorded 10,190 rushing yards and 86 rushing touchdowns in his eight years in the NFL.
