San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is continuing to work with the team's wide receivers at the start of training camp.

Vernon Davis has confirmed that he is still working with the wide receivers during the San Francisco 49ers' practices.

The Super Bowl runners-up are short of receivers, with last year's leader Michael Crabtree recovering from an Achilles tear, while Kyle Williams and Ricardo Lockette missed practice time yesterday with minor injuries.

The tight end told The AP: "I'm willing to step up and do whatever they ask me to do. They've been having me line up at wide receiver, pretty much all over the place.

"It's a good thing that I get the opportunity to work with those guys because it not only helps me at the wide receiver position, it also helps me at the tight end position. My feet get quicker, my route-running is better."

Davis recorded 548 receiving yards and scored five touchdowns for the 49ers in 2012.
