Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman believes that his side's Super Bowl-winning defense is among the best in NFL history.
The Seahawks were ranked number one overall on defense during the regular campaign and carried that form into the playoffs, culminating in last night's 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos.
Having stopped a rampant Broncos offense in its tracks so emphatically, Sherman argues that his side now deserve to be named alongside legendary defenses such as the 1985 Chicago Bears and the 'Steel Curtain' of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"Our defense wanted to etch ourselves in history, and I think we did that today," Sherman told reporters after the match.
"We're in there somewhere. As long as we're in that mix, we're all right. It doesn't matter what order you put us in, just put us in the conversation."
Sherman was unable to finish the game after being carted off in the fourth quarter with a high ankle sprain.
