Former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell has suggested that Robert Griffin III is not good enough to be a successful signal-caller in the league.
The 25-year-old had an outstanding first season in the NFL as he was named offensive rookie of the year, but then sustained a devastating injury in the playoffs.
Since then, Griffin has struggled immensely to find his best form and was even dropped last season in favour of Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy.
However, the Washington Redskins have named Griffin as their starter for the 2015 campaign and used his option for the 2016 season.
When asked if he thought Griffin could succeed, Brunell told ESPN: "I do not. He has gone backwards. It's not just his decision-making, it's his fundamentals.
"He's taking too many hits, he's quick to get out of the pocket. Last year was difficult to watch. Does he have the skill set? Yes, but we haven't seen it in some time."
Griffin has thrown for 8,907 yards and 40 touchdowns to 23 interceptions in his three years in the NFL.
