There are eight events for us to enjoy at the Olympic Stadium tonight, the pick of which is arguably the men's 110m hurdles semi-finals and final.
Also, it's worth noting that the gruelling decathlon continues this evening.

9.27pm110m hurdles golden boy Merritt has been speaking to BBC Sport and says that he treated the final like a practice session in the hope of performing something "ridiculous". Merritt says he's proud to bring the sprint hurdles Olympic title back to America for the first time in 16 years.
9.25pmAnd the medals have just been decided. Brittney Reese of the USA has gold to continue a very good night for the Americans. Russia's Elena Sokolova has silver with a new PB of 7.07m, with another American Janay Deloach claiming bronze.

6.18pmLooking ahead to later this evening, the women's 200m final is probably the next best viewing after the men's 110m hurdles. It's a star-studded field who line up for the second-shortest sprint, with effectively America and Jamaica vying for gold.

5.53pmOne of the medal events this evening is the women's long jump and there's a British medal hope in Shara Proctor. The American-born jumper managed the furthest distance of 6.83m in qualifying but expect higher than that in the final.
5.47pmThe high jump is first up at 6pm and it's the only event until we hit 7.05pm.
5.46pmAmerica's Ashton Eaton currently leads the standings and you wouldn't bet against him. The 24-year-old is the world record holder and currently 135 points ahead of his nearest rival.

1.38pmWe're now coming towards the end of the shot put, with the majority of competitors just having one throw remaining.
1.35pmBack to the shot put and Germany's Pascal Behrenbruch has also thrown well, reaching a distance of 15.47m. That will be worth 819 points to his tally, providing he doesn't better it.
1.32pmLet's quickly bring you some reaction to the women's 800m heats from earlier. South Africa's Caster Semeya, who looked impressive during her race, believes that a time under two minutes will be required to win the gold medal in her event. Find out why here.
1.26pmBelgium's Hans van Alphen nestles himself in second place with a throw of 15.48m.
1.21pmKarpov, who has had a decent campaign so far, takes the lead in the shot put with a throw of 16.47, which is the best he has produced all season. Some really good throws have already happened and we're still in the early stages.
1.16pmPredictably current leader Eaton goes even better, setting a new personal best with a throw of 15.48m. He's going to take some beating for that gold medal if his form continues.
1.12pmAddy of USA goes further than Warner, producing a distance of 14.97m, which is worth a hefty 788 points at the moment.

12.45pmTalking of Awde, he is currently 19th in the overall standings with 1700 points from two events. His strongest event is the 400m, which is ran this evening.

12.35pmA little bit more on Hitchton, who qualified in 10th place. She done so with a throw of 71.98m, which was a British record.

12.27pmElsewhere, there has been some good news for Britain's Steven Lewis, who has made the final of the men's pole vault. He only made one jump, clearing 5.50m, so he should be fresh for the medal battle on Friday night.
12.25pmThe race was also notable for the appearance of Sarah Attar, who became the first women from Saudi Arabia to compete in a track and field event. She came last in a time of 2:44.96 - but that's a irrelevant really. It was simply great to see her out on the track.
12.23pmJaneth Jepkosgei Busienei of Kenya has won the race in 2:01.04, while Ekaterina Poistogova finished second. Third spot went to Rosibel Garcia.

12.21pmQuick update on the decathlon, where Ashton Eaton leads after the long jump with 2079 points. His fellow American Trey Hardee is second with 1936 points, while Damian Warner of Canada is third on 1925 points.
12.17pmThere's some interesting discussions going on over at the pole vault. Britain's Steve Lewis and his fellow competitors are trying to convince officials that a clearance of 5.50m should be enough to qualify for the final.
12.15pmNataliia Lupu of Ukraine wins it in 2:08.35, with Arzhakova in second place. The final qualifying spot went to Cherono Koech.
