The Great Britain men's 4x400m relay team have claimed silver medals at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki.

Nigel Levine, Robert Tobin, Conrad Williams and Richard Buck had looked likely to win the final before Buck was pipped at the line by Belgium's Kevin Borlee.

GB recorded an impressive time of 3:01.56, while Belgium finished in 3:01.09.

Elsewhere, the British 4x100m relay team failed to complete their final after Christian Malcolm failed to pass the baton to Dwain Chambers within the changeover area.
