Double Olympic champion Mo Farah has taken victory in the two-mile race at the Great North City Games.
Farah completed the race in 8:40:04 along the Newcastle-Gatehead quayside.
For much of the race, Farah was behind Australian Collis Birmingham.
The 29-year-old told BBC Sport: "He dug in early on. That was tough.
"It's been hard work since the Olympics, but this run in front of home fans was one to enjoy."
Farah will be performing the role of starter at tomorrow's Great North Run.
