Eilidh Child admits to feeling nervous ahead of Europeans 400m hurdles heat

Eilidh Child admits that she was nervous before qualifying for the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles at the European Championships in Zurich.

Great Britain's Eilidh Child has admitted that she felt nervous heading into this morning's 400m hurdles heat at the European Championships in Zurich, Switzerland.

Fresh from the Scot's silver medal success at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the 27-year-old was in action again.

Child, who witnessed teammate Jo Pavey clinch 10,000m gold last night, eased into the semi-finals of the event by winning her heat in 55.32s.

"I was nervous about that race and wanted to get it out of the way but I'm glad it was a solid performance," Child told BBC Sport. "Watching Jo last night it was amazing and so inspirational and we are all so proud of her."

Child is the fastest in Europe this year.
