Jason Collins happy to make NBA return

Jason Collins says that it was "a lot of fun" to return to the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

Jason Collins has said that it was "a lot of fun" to be back in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night.

The 35-year-old made his debut for the Nets in the victory over the Los Angeles Lakers after signing a short-term contract, becoming the first openly gay athlete to play in any of the four major US sports.

"It was a lot of fun to get back out on the court and set screens and hard fouls," Collins told reporters.

"I didn't take any charges tonight, that will change. I'll get in position next time. But it felt good to get back out there on the court."

Following the media speculation that surrounded his return to the NBA, Collins claimed that he doesn't expect to always be in the limelight.

"I don't think it'll be like this every single day," Collins added. "There's only so many questions you guys can ask.

"I know that I'm capable of playing in the NBA. I think I showed that tonight."

Collins was making his first appearance in the NBA since playing for the Washington Wizards in April 2013.
