Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade has called for players to be paid for representing their country at the Olympics.
The American was the leading scorer when USA claimed gold at the 2008 Beijing Games and agrees with the views of Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen on the issue.
"It's a lot of things you do for the Olympics - a lot of jerseys you sell," Wade told ESPN.
"We play the whole summer. I do think guys should be compensated.
"The biggest thing is now you get no rest. So you go to the end of the season, training camp is two weeks later.
"You're giving up a lot to do it. It's something you want to do. But it's taxing on your body."
The 30-year-old was named the Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated in 2006.
