Paul McCloskey has admitted that he is keen to take on Marcos Maidana after defeating Breidis Prescott in Belfast on Saturday evening.
Prescott, who took less than a minute to defeat Amir Khan in 2008, knocked McCloskey down during the first round.
However, the 32-year-old recovered to win the fight on a unanimous points decision.
After the bout, McCloskey turned his attentions to WBA light-welterweight champions Maidana.
"I would love to fight Maidana, we have already spoken on Twitter - he's a true gent and a great fighter," said the Irish fighter.
"I think it's a fight that could happen and it would be fantastic to have it in Belfast again. The support on Saturday was unbelievable, it really pushed me over the line in the last round."
McCloskey has lost just one of his 24 career fights.
