Kevin Pietersen will be fined up to 50% of his match fee after showing dissent following his dismissal in England's Twenty20 victory over India yesterday.
The Surrey batsman was unhappy with umpire Sudhir Asnani's decision to give him out lbw as he attempted his trademark switch-hit.
Pietersen had reached 53 from 39 balls, despite playing with a broken thumb, before being dismissed by Suresh Raina, although the delivery from the off-spinner appeared to pitch outside the leg stump.
"As an experienced cricketer, Kevin should know that when the umpire raises his finger, a player should leave the crease without showing his emotions no matter what he may think of the decision," said match referee Roshan Mahanama.
The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges, meaning a full hearing was not required.
