Ian Bell 'excited' by Peter Moores's appointment as England coach

Ian Bell believes that England can finally begin planning and moving forward again following the 'exciting' appointment of Peter Moores as coach for a second spell.

Ian Bell has admitted that English cricket can finally start looking forward after the 'exciting' appointment of Peter Moores as coach for a second spell.

Moores, who had an unsuccessful stint in charge of the national team between 2007 and 2009, was confirmed as Andy Flower's successor on Saturday.

England had previously been in limbo since Flower had been reassigned following the 5-0 Ashes whitewash, and Bell is excited by the prospect of Moores and captain Alastair Cook leading the team into a new era, with changes expected for the opening Test match of the summer against Sri Lanka.

"I saw the press conference with Cooky and Pete - it's an exciting time," he told reporters.

"They're now going to have some time now to get their heads together and it's exciting now that we know who the head coach is. English cricket can start planning and moving forward again."

Top-order batsman Bell scored an unbeaten 189 in Warwickshire's first County Championship match of the season.
