Big Bash League side Melbourne Renegades confirm that they intend to meet with England outcast Kevin Pietersen to discuss a potential move.

The chief executive of Big Bash League side Melbourne Renegades, Stuart Coventry, has confirmed that the club are interested in poaching batsman Kevin Pietersen.

The 32-year-old's England future is hanging in the balance after he was dropped following the nation's Test series against South Africa, where it emerged that Pietersen had sent 'derogatory' text messages to his South African opponents regarding his England teammates.

"I'd like to [meet Pietersen] but I think I would want to get an indication first about his availability before talking further," said Coventry.

"I'm going over there to hopefully catch up with a number of different players who could be a potential marquee player for us. That's my goal and if he forms part of that then he will be one of that group of players."

Pietersen, who was not included in England's Twenty20 side for the world cup in Sri Lanka, was left out of the Test side for their tour of India this week.
