Hashim Amla and Stiaan van Zyl have frustrated the West Indies bowlers after helping South Africa reach 449-4 before lunch on day two of the first Test in Centurion.
The Proteas reached stumps on 340-3 yesterday, with AB de Villiers guiding the attack, but the 30-year-old was the first to go on Thursday.
Sulieman Benn claimed the wicket after his delivery to De Villiers found the hands of Jermaine Blackwood and sent the batsman packing after he hit 152 runs.
Amla continued to impress and progressed past the 150-run mark in the morning session, while Van Zyl hit a half-century off 74 balls.
Amla (178 not out) and Van Zyl (51 not out) will return to the crease after lunch.
