Pakistan's tail enders are facing a battle to save the first Test at Galle as they lead Sri Lanka by 71 runs, but only have two wickets remaining with another session left to play.
After Sri Lanka declared on 533-9 in their first innings to build a lead of 82 runs, Pakistan's openers Khurram Manzoor [three], Ahmed Shehzad [16] and nightwatchman Saeed Ajmal [four] made just 21 runs between them.
Azhar Ali [41] top-scored for the visitors, but Pakistan lost the wicket of Abdur Rehman off the last ball of the second session to leave them in a precarious position.
Rangana Herath has been the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, with figures of 4-41 from 27 overs.
Sri Lanka will hope to dismiss the final two batsmen before trying to cut down Pakistan's slender lead before the end of play.
