Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas finished second in the Tour de Suisse after Simon Spilak closed down a 13-second gap to win.
Thomas, who won Olympic gold for Great Britain at London 2012, headed into the time trial on Sunday as favourite to win.
The Welshman pulled back a 34-second advantage from overnight leader Thibaut Pinot, but the Brit was unable to hold on as Spilak took the title.
Tom Dumoulin, who won the stage by 18 seconds, claimed third place.
