Blel Kadri takes stage eight of the Tour de France with a solo victory from Tomblaine to Gerardmer La Mauselaine.

Blel Kadri has won the eighth stage of the Tour de France from Tomblaine to Gerardmer La Mauselaine.

The Ag2r-La rider broke away during the 161km race before holding off the chasing peloton to claim the solo victory.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo Nibali of Astana extended his overall lead to 1 minute and 44 seconds after securing a third-placed finish.

Team Tinkoff Saxo's Alberto Contador came in second behind Kadri, while Team Sky's Richie Porte and FDJ's Thibaut Pinot completed the top five.
