Great Britain's Jody Cundy fails to finish 1km time trial after false start

Great Britain's Paralympic cyclist Jody Cundy is disqualified from the men's C4-5 1km time trial after false start.

Great Britain's Paralympic cyclist Jody Cundy has been refused a re-start after slipping off the track out of the blocks in the men's C4-5 1km time trial at the Velodrome.

The world champion, who had his right foot amputated at three years of age, failed to start properly after being released from the machine, which the starters deemed the rider's fault as opposed to a technical issue.

Cundy, who reacted furiously when he was told that he would not be able to re-start, insisted that the back wheel had slipped when he was released but officials believed that the Brit could have continued.

Meanwhile, Cundy's teammate Jon-Allan Butterworth secured the silver medal, while Alfonso Cabello for Spain clinched gold and China's Liu Xinyang grabbed bronze.
