James Beattie "devastated" by Accrington Stanley defeat to Scunthorpe United

Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie claims that his side are "devastated" by Friday night's 3-2 home defeat to Scunthorpe United.

Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie has claimed that his side are "devastated" by Friday night's 3-2 home defeat to Scunthorpe United.

Beattie's team led 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Lee Molyneux and Peter Murphy, but Russ Wilcox's Scunthorpe turned the game on its head after the break.

Sam Winnall and Hakeeb Adelakun squared the game before the hour mark, and the League Two promotion chasers stole all three points when David Mirfin netted a 90th-minute winner.

Beattie told reporters: "We looked on course for a win at half-time, the right things were said in the dressing room and we were two goals in front against a good Scunthorpe side.

"Russ made a few changes at half time and we didn't adapt to them and we are severely disappointed.

"We can take positives out of the first half, but not many from the second half. We are all devastated at the moment."

Accrington have now won just three of 15 home league games this season.
