Rennes twice come from behind to beat Ajaccio in a pulsating Ligue 1 encounter.

Rennes have twice overturned a deficit to beat Ajaccio 4-2 away in Ligue 1.

Adrian Mutu opened the scoring almost immediately as he slotted home inside the second minute to give Ajaccio the lead.

In the 17th minute Rennes were awarded a penalty, which Julien Feret stepped up to dispatch effortlessly for the equaliser.

Rennes could have gone ahead in the 24th minute through Jonathan Pitroipa, but his shot was well saved.

Fousseni Diawara gave Ajaccio the lead with a header just three minutes before the break but Rennes again got level, this time after just two minutes, through Romain Alessandrini.

This time it was the visitors who went in front, Cheick Diarra heading in from Romain Alessandrini's cross for a 3-2 lead.

Then Feret notched his second, this time from open play, from an Alessandrini assist to put the visitors in control.

Johan Cavalli for Ajaccio had a late effort saved before Frederic Sammaritano fired wide, but the hosts could not get another goal back.
