Aaron Ramsey: 'Arsenal exit to Monaco is a missed opportunity'

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey concedes that his side's Champions League exit at the hands of Monaco on away goals was a missed opportunity for the Gunners.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has claimed that his side's Champions League exit at the hands of Monaco on Tuesday night was a missed opportunity.

Arsene Wenger's charges dominated their Ligue 1 opponents in the second leg and secured a 2-0 win at the Stade Louis II.

They were, however, unable to overturn their disastrous 3-1 first-leg defeat, and so went out on away goals.

Asked whether it proved a missed opportunity, Ramsey told BBC Sport:"I think so, we've always gone out to Bayern Munich and Barcelona at this stage.

"No disrespect to Monaco, we thought we'd have a good opportunity to qualify but we gave ourselves a tough test from the first leg. It's nearly again, but it's not enough."

Manchester City are now the last Premier League side standing in the competition, though they have to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Barcelona at Camp Nou.
