Preview: Monaco vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole previews the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie between Monaco and Arsenal.

Arsenal head into the second leg of their Champions League fixture with AS Monaco knowing that they must break a 40-game record to have a chance of progressing through to the quarter-finals.

After losing 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium three weeks ago, the Gunners must score at least three times against the Ligue 1 outfit, something that hasn't been done since August 17.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will know that his team only have a slim chance of making the last eight, but confidence is high within the squad after recording 12 wins from their last 14 matches.

Wenger has decisions to make in defence, with Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin competing for a spot at right-back and Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal fighting it out to start at left-back.

Midfielder Santi Cazorla is likely to be recalled to the side after being rested against West Ham United last weekend.

Despite being in control of the tie, Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim will know that his side need to avoid any complacency to ensure that they complete the job they started in North London.

They deserved their success, but they benefited from a bad day at the office from Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and the visitors are unlikely to pass up so many opportunities on Tuesday night.

Jardim was able to rest players for their Ligue 1 fixture on Friday evening, while striker Dimitar Berbatov could return after only starting on the bench for the last two matches.

Arsenal would create a slice of Champions League history should they progress to the last eight, with no team having overturned a two-goal deficit in an away second leg before.
