Arsenal have been boosted by the news that Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri will "definitely miss" Wednesday's first-leg Champions League last-16 clash at the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old bagged a brace in the 4-0 victory over Freiburg on Saturday, but went off injured on the hour mark.
The Swiss international is believed to have sustained a thigh injury and Bayern released a statement confirming that the winger will be sidelined for up to two weeks.
The statement read: "[Shaqiri] will definitely miss the first leg of the round-16 clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, and the Bundesliga away match at Hannover next Sunday."
The news comes as a further blow to coach Pep Guardiola, who has already lost Franck Ribery to injury. However, the duo are expected to be fit in time for the second leg at the Allianz Arena on March 11.
