Arsene Wenger pleased with defensive improvement

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels that his side may have got their priorities at the back wrong at the start of the season which caused poor defensive displays.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is pleased to see his side's defensive performances trending in the right direction.

The Gunners struggled at the back at the start of the campaign, but Wenger's side have now kept two clean sheets in their last two matches in the Premier League, and the Frenchman is determined to ensure that run continues.

Wenger told the club's official website: "Sometimes maybe we wanted too much to win games so we didn't get our priorities right. But it's only two games with clean sheets so we shouldn't go overboard.

"We also had to change our defence quite a lot. We have [Laurent] Koscielny out now, [Mathieu] Debuchy is out for a long time and [Kieran] Gibbs and [Nacho] Monreal have also been missing.

"It's always important to find the right balance. The players are the players at the end of the day, and I make the decisions. I believe it was more a question of patience, and a desire to win the game."

Arsenal face Anderlecht in their Champions League clash later today.
