How Arsenal could line up next season with William Saliba, Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up next season with William Saliba and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer of 2022.

The Gunners are likely to wave goodbye to Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer when his deal expires at the end of the campaign, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is out of contract in 2023, which should see Mikel Arteta start planning for the future soon.

Meanwhile, defender William Saliba - who is in his third loan spell away from the club at Marseille - will supposedly be integrated into the first team from next season, with Gooners' calls for the 20-year-old to make his long-awaited debut set to be answered.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up in the 2022-23 season with Saliba and Calvert-Lewin.

ARS XI w/SAL, CAL-LEW

The arrival of £50m man Ben White means that Saliba's path into the first team will be far from straightforward, although the Frenchman has found that out the hard way since initially joining in 2019.

White has had a few shaky moments in an Arsenal shirt so far but will not give up his place easily, although with Saliba starting week in week out for an exciting Marseille side, Gooners would hope to see him handed bountiful opportunities alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in defence.

Aaron Ramsdale has seemingly established himself as the club's number one over Bernd Leno, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney will be indispensable in their full-back roles next year.

Albert Sambi Lokonga has looked bright since his arrival from Anderlecht, but Arteta is unlikely to consider dropping Granit Xhaka if he stays at the club, and Thomas Partey will hope to nail down his role in the engine room this term.

Hale End graduates Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe continue to impress under Arteta and will be established starters for years to come should they remain in North London, with Martin Odegaard providing a creative spark that the Gunners sorely missed in the first half of last season.

If Lacazette and Aubameyang both end their Gunners stints in the near future, Calvert-Lewin would undoubtedly slot straight into the first XI if the Gunners manage to prise him out of Everton's grasp, with Arteta seeking a target man equally adept at bringing others into the game.
