Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 'My heart is fine, I'm completely healthy'

Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang confirms that his heart is "absolutely fine" following a scare over a post-COVID complication.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has eased any concerns over post-COVID complications by reassuring fans that his heart is "fine".

The 32-year-old did not play a single minute for Gabon at the Africa Cup of Nations after the country's Football Federation reported "heart lesions" following his coronavirus infection.

Aubameyang returned to Arsenal earlier than planned in order to undergo medical examinations, but the ex-Borussia Dortmund man has now confirmed that he is fit and healthy.

"Hi guys, I came back to London to do some additional checks, and I'm very happy to say that my heart is absolutely fine and I'm completely healthy!!," Aubameyang wrote on Instagram. "Really appreciate all the messages over the last few days and I'm already back at it."

A separate report had claimed that Aubameyang and Mario Lemina had both been sent home early from the camp due to behavioural problems, something which both players are understood to have denied.

Aubameyang has not turned out for Mikel Arteta's since being stripped of the captaincy last month, and Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have reportedly made an approach to sign the striker on loan.
