Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis could return from injury against Arsenal

Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis will be given a fitness test ahead of the clash with Arsenal.

Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis could be in line to make his return from injury against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Monday.

The Frenchman has been sidelined for a month with a hamstring tear, but Swans boss Garry Monk has revealed that he will be assessed ahead of the trip to London.

"Bafe is back in training and we will have to assess if he is ready to start, but it will be good to have him back as we are getting short on bodies," PA quotes Monk as saying.

"We have had a few injuries but that comes back to adding to the squad.

"If we'd had a few injuries to some of our consistent performers we could have been in a very different situation, and that's why we must add quality and depth to the squad this summer while not losing anything."

Gomis could be fast-tracked back into the starting XI against Arsenal as Monk is short of attacking options, with loan signing Nelson Oliveria picking up an injury in last weekend's clash with Stoke City.
