Arsenal star Jack Wilshere undergoes another ankle operation

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reveals that Jack Wilshere will be out for a "few days" after undergoing another ankle operation.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere has undergone a minor surgical procedure as he continues to work his way back from an ankle injury.

The England international has been hampered by ankle problems throughout his senior career and has not played a competitive game since November due to fresh injury woes.

In this morning's press conference, Wenger confirmed that the midfielder will not be available for a further few days as he has undergone another operation.

"He had a little surgery on his ankle because it was irritating him a bit, but it's a very minor procedure so he will be out for a few days," Wenger told reporters.

"It was planned to be done at the end of the season and because he had an irritation with it we decided to do it now and it's just a few days. Next weekend will be quick but I don't know exactly when he will be back but it will be days not weeks."

Wilshere was an unused substitute in Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.
