Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham reportedly visits Arsene Wenger ahead of a planned tribute to the former Gunners manager, who resigned from his post in 2018.

Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham reportedly paid a visit to former Gunners manager Arsene Wenger in a bid to persuade him to return to the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger stepped down from his Arsenal post in 2018 after 22 years in the dugout, but despite leading the Gunners to three FA Cups in his last five seasons in charge, Wenger's final years were marred by protests and hostility from supporters.

The 71-year-old is said to be upset at the way his Gunners career came to a close and has supposedly vowed to never step foot in the Emirates Stadium again.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Venkatesham spoke with Wenger about a possible return to North London as Arsenal plan to reveal a special tribute to the former Gunners leader.

Wenger led Arsenal to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his illustrious reign, but the Gunners went trophyless and finished sixth in the top flight in his final season.

Under current manager Mikel Arteta, the Gunners lie 15th in the Premier League table, although the Spaniard did lead Arsenal to FA Cup success in the summer - the first trophy that the North London outfit had won since Wenger's departure.
