Arsenal 'frustrate' Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher accuses Arsenal and their manager Arsene Wenger of never learning from their mistakes.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is left "frustrated" when he watches Arsenal play.

In recent seasons, Arsene Wenger's side have tended to lose the bigger games, including Tuesday evening's 2-0 defeat in the Champions League at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.

Reflecting on the Premier League side's performance in the Westfalenstadion, Carragher has accused Wenger and his players of not learning from their mistakes - a failing that the 36-year-old has branded "unforgivable".

"When I watch Arsenal now, I get frustrated. They play the same way wherever they go, with their full-backs pushed up high and wide and get caught on the counter-attack. They are the away team! They should be doing that to the home team when they go travelling. Why don't they learn? It is unforgivable that this keeps happening," he wrote in the Daily Mail.

"Doing things differently is vital. Jose Mourinho, for one, always has a surprise up his sleeve. Sir Alex Ferguson, remember, sometimes used Park Ji-sung in man-marking roles in Europe and would have Cristiano Ronaldo up front on his own, as he knew he would not track the opposition full-back.

"With Arsenal, though, it seems there is one way only and you can't help but wonder where it is all heading. Wenger is a legendary figure in our game. His achievements will stand the test of time but you sometimes question whether there is a negative to him being so secure in his job."

This afternoon, Arsenal will take on Aston Villa when they will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the new Premier League season.
