Arsenal suffer unwanted record with Manchester City defeat

Arsenal suffer an unwanted scoring fate in league competition for the first time ever as Manchester City win 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal suffered an unwanted goalscoring record as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday evening.

Raheem Sterling's header inside the opening two minutes was all that separated the two teams on the day, and Arsenal were unable to make promising periods in the game count as City ultimately prevailed in North London.

While Pep Guardiola's men marked their 18th win on the bounce with Sunday's triumph, Arsenal suffered a losing fate for the first time in their history at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The weekend's defeat marked the fourth time in a row that Arsenal have failed to score against a single opponent at home in the league - the first time ever that the Gunners have endured such a barren run.

Furthermore, Arsenal have now equalled their record of eight top-flight defeats against a single opponent on the bounce, first set against Leeds United between 1973 and 1976.

Mikel Arteta's side remain 10th in the Premier League table as they turn their attention to Thursday's Europa League last-32 second leg against Benfica.
