Mikel Arteta says that Robin van Persie is "very calm" about his future and the midfielder believes that the Dutchman will remain at Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed that Robin van Persie is "unaffected" by transfer interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The former Everton star expects the Dutchman to sign a new contract with the Gunners, despite claiming that he will wait until the end of the season to begin talks.

"I do not see Van Persie leaving Arsenal," Arteta told COM Radio. "He is completely unaffected by interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona and not thinking about his contract renewal either.

"Now he is very calm and is not nervous about anything. I know he has said that in the summer he will consider things, talk it over and take the decision that he will take."

A number of clubs around Europe are believed to be interested in the prolific striker, as well as Premier League leaders Manchester City.
