Sunderland manager Steve Bruce says loan signing Nicklas Bendtner has a point to prove this season, after a move from Arsenal.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has said that loan signing Nicklas Bendtner has a point to prove this season.

The striker joined the Black Cats on a season-long deal from Arsenal, but the pair have worked together before at Birmingham City.

"I had the pleasure of working with Nicklas when he was a young boy at Birmingham and I have monitored his career ever since," Bruce told SAFC TV

"There's no doubt that he has terrific ability, and we might just have got him at the right time.

"He's got something to prove and a real hunger to show people just how good he is. Maybe he's lost his way a little bit over the last couple of years, but I'm convinced this is the right move for him."

Sunderland continue their Premier League campaign when they entertain Chelsea on Saturday.
