Campbell: 'Spurs have left Arsenal behind'

Former defender Sol Campbell claims that Arsenal have been 'left behind' by North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in recent years.

Sol Campbell has claimed that Arsenal have been "left behind" by the improvements made both on and off the pitch by Tottenham Hotspur.

During his playing career, in which he represented both clubs, Campbell was part of an Arsenal team which was challenging for the Premier League title at a time when Spurs were largely content with achieving European football.

However, with Spurs having now reached the Champions League final and built a new stadium, Campbell feels that the Gunners have been left trailing their North London rivals.

The former defender told Sky Sports News: "I think the last couple of seasons, for sure. Tottenham have improved massively, in all departments.

"They've now got a new stadium, so it's time for Arsenal to catch-up because they have been left behind, no doubt about it. Arsenal are trying to get back to being that competitive side and they're slowly doing that.

"What Tottenham have done over the last two seasons has been fantastic, they've grown. It wasn't like that when I was there. Now, they're up there competing; Champions League final. It's fantastic."

Arsenal and Spurs played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in their Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
