Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is left scratching his head after watching his side lose 2-1 to Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has blamed missed chances for his side's 2-1 loss to Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday.

Dalglish watched on as his side spurned a host of goalscoring opportunities, including a missed penalty and two efforts that hit Arsenal's post.

After the game, Dalglish couldn't fathom how his side hadn't come away with at least a point.

"It's difficult for anybody to believe," he said. "We played some fantastic stuff and came away with nothing.

"I think it's rewarding to play a team like Arsenal and play as well as we have done, being so dominant in the first half. The scoreline doesn't really reflect the game.

"We were beaten because we didn't score enough goals. Van Persie's a fantastic footballer, no doubt about that. But we did enough to win that game."

The result leaves Liverpool ten points behind fourth place in the league table.
