Olivier Giroud: 'Arsenal were lucky to beat Burnley'

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud admits that he and his teammates were lucky to beat Burnley.

Olivier Giroud has admitted that Arsenal needed some luck to beat Burnley on Saturday.

The Gunners earned a narrow 1-0 win at Turf Moor as Aaron Ramsey's early goal made the difference in the Premier League clash.

Despite claiming that Arsenal were far from their best, Giroud believes that the result could prove to be important for them at the end of the season as they look to put pressure on leaders Chelsea.

"It was a tough game for us and we were a bit lucky," he told the club's official website. "We did well to score early in the game because it was really hard for us. Burnley play with a lot of determination and it was a big fight, but we succeeded and it was a big win for us.

"Sometimes you can't play your best football every game and we tried to focus on not conceding a goal. It's one more clean sheet so as long as we were winning the game, I don't think we were too much in danger."

Arsenal continue the defence of their FA Cup crown this Saturday when they face Reading in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.
