Half-Time Report: Aaron Ramsey gives Arsenal lead over Burnley

An early goal from Aaron Ramsey gives Arsenal a 1-0 half-time advantage over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Aaron Ramsey's early effort has given Arsenal a 1-0 half-time lead against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Arsenal quickly stamped their authority on proceedings and after 11 minutes, they went ahead. Burnley had defended well to block a couple of shots from the Gunners, but the ball fell invitingly for Ramsey, who smashed the ball past a helpless Tom Heaton.

The Gunners pushed for a second but Burnley were keeping them honest, with Kieran Tripper forcing David Ospina to scramble across his line to keep out his free kick.

Up the other end, Arsenal earned a set piece in an equally threatening position, but despite beating the goalkeeper, Santi Cazorla's curling effort drifted marginally wide of the post.

As the first half approached a conclusion, chances were few and far between as both sides struggled with their final ball.
