Laura Harvey pleased with Arsenal Ladies' unbeaten WSL record

Laura Harvey praises the Arsenal Ladies for winning this season's Women's Super League without suffering a single defeat.

Arsenal Ladies coach Laura Harvey has hailed her side for winning the Women's Super League this season without losing a single game.

Harvey's side became the first team to finish a WSL season unbeaten, as they won 10 of their 14 matches and drew the other four.

"I thought it would be really difficult to go unbeaten this year," she told Arsenal's official website. "To do it is a fantastic achievement for the squad.

"I think the strength in depth has played a major role, and not just the strength, but the quality of the strength we have in our squad. Even now I'd struggle to name my strongest starting XI."

Harvey was also quick to point out that Arsenal did not find it easy to win the championship.

"We knew last year that in the league, one defeat or one draw could mean not winning the league," she said. "This year, we went unbeaten but the league wasn't decided until the penultimate game.

"It just shows how tight it is. You have to set those standards, to try and go as far as possible without dropping points.

"To have won it the way we did, with the number of points we have is really pleasing, and the added bonus is that we didn't lose a game."

Arsenal will face Birmingham in the Continental Cup final at Underhill on Wednesday.
