Mesut Ozil hits back at Florentino Perez claims

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil hits back at Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over claims he made about the German's mental strength.

Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil has refuted suggestions made by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he was unable to cope with the pressure expected of him at the club.

Perez had recently questioned whether the 24-year-old possessed a strong enough mentality necessary to succeed at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Instead of being embroiled in a war of words with his former employer, the Germany international has pointed to his record throughout his three-year stay in the Spanish capital.

He told reporters: "First of all, I had three wonderful years in Madrid, I do not want to add anything on that. I am now at Arsenal and very happy.

"But if you see my figures [at Real Madrid] and how many games I played there, then you can also see my professionalism so I do not want to say anything more about it."

Ozil has enjoyed a solid start to his Gunners career following his £42m deadline-day move to the Emirates Stadium, netting once and bagging four assists thus far.
