Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur cannot compare to Arsenal'

Mauricio Pochettino says that it is "difficult" to compare Tottenham Hotspur to Arsenal due to Arsene Wenger's 20-year career with the Gunners.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his club cannot be compared to Arsenal due to the tenure of his counterpart Arsene Wenger.

The French coach recently celebrated 20 years in charge of Arsenal, and in that time he has guided the club to three Premier League titles and six FA Cups.

Pochettino has been at the helm of White Hart Lane since 2014, and even though he is yet to win silverware with the club, he managed to transform the team into Premier League title contenders last season.

Ahead of Sunday's North London derby at the Emirates, Spurs are the only team unbeaten in the top flight after 10 games, and they are just three points behind second-placed Arsenal, but Pochettino believes that there is a gulf between them in terms of stature.

"Arsenal, after 20 years of Arsene Wenger, are one of the most consistent clubs in the world. It's difficult to compare us with Arsenal," Pochettino told reporters.

"We want to be one of the best but we're still building the training ground, the new stadium and our squad, but you put that away when you compete. We need to be aggressive and try to play better than them."

The last two meetings between the two clubs have resulted in score draws.
