Wojciech Szczesny: 'I hope Arsene Wenger remains at Arsenal'

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says that he hopes that manager Arsene Wenger turns down interest from England to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has said that he wants to see Arsene Wenger extend his contract with the Gunners rather than become the next England manager.

After Roy Hodgson's resignation earlier this week, Wenger has been one of several names linked with the Three Lions post but Szczesny has called for the Frenchman to continue with the "fantastic job" he is doing in North London.

The 26-year-old told reporters: "I am sure he would be a great thing for England, but my main interest is Arsenal football club and I hope it doesn't happen, for the sake of Arsenal, not for the sake of England.

"Obviously England had a disappointing time at Euro 2016 and changes will be made, but hopefully that will not affect our club. I hope it is something that will not happen because he is doing a fantastic job at Arsenal and I'd love to see him stay there."

Wenger currently has 12 months remaining on his existing contract at Arsenal.
