Arsenal 'consider offering manager Arsene Wenger a new contract'

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer manager Arsene Wenger a new contract in order to prevent the Frenchman from becoming the new England boss.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer manager Arsene Wenger a new contract in order to prevent him from becoming the next England boss.

The Frenchman currently has one year remaining on his deal at the Emirates, and has reiterated numerous times that he intends to see it out.

The Football Association, though, is believed to be considering Wenger as a replacement for Roy Hodgson, who quit his post on Monday night following England's humiliating last-16 exit at Euro 2016.

According to the Daily Mail, in order to ward off interest in Wenger, Arsenal are considering offering the 66-year-old an extended deal, but will wait to see how the early stages of the 2016-17 season pan out due to the discontent towards the manager from supporters.

The report adds that Wenger is likely to sign fresh terms if they are put on the table.
