Theo Walcott describes "emotional" return from injury

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott admits that his return from a serious knee injury against Burnley made him "quite emotional".

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has admitted that he was "quite emotional" during his return from injury against Burnley.

The 25-year-old had been out of action for nine months with a serious knee problem before he came off the bench towards the end of the team's 3-0 win on Saturday.

Despite claiming that it was an "amazing" feeling to be back on the pitch, Walcott is eager not to push himself too soon.

"It's amazing to be back," he told the club's official website. "I know you don't really want to be putting dates in the mind but this date was always in my head that I might get on and have a go.

"It was quite emotional. Everyone's been very patient with me and they still need to be patient as it's not going to happen overnight. It was such a great feeling.

"I want to help this team but we need to be patient. I'll be patient and the boss will be as well. I just want to do what I do best and that's just to enjoy playing football."

Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday when they host Anderlecht in the Champions League.
