Arsene Wenger: We can stage a comeback

Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal can recover from their poor start to the Premier League season.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal can recover from their poor start to the Premier League season in the second half of the campaign.

The Gunners go into the New Year in sixth place with 33 points, but Wenger believes that they can claw back points by winning big games at home.

"We have played 18 games and that means 20 to go," Wenger said. "So we have a good opportunity to come back as long as we focus on our performances and are consistent.

"We had a disastrous start but in the last three months we haven't lost any points on them.

"But we have played at Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs. That means they all come to us. This season will be decided by how well we do at home against the big teams."

Arsenal take on Queens Park Rangers at the Emirates later today.
