Werder Bremen have confirmed an affection for out-of-favour Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski, but claimed that signing him would be "totally unrealistic".
The Germany international is heavily expected to leave the Gunners this summer after struggling during his loan spell at Inter Milan, who opted against a permanent deal.
Galatasaray have been credited with an interest but the 30-year-old is reportedly keen on a return to his homeland, but Bremen stress that Weserstadion is not a likely destination.
"Lukas Podolski is a great footballer, I like him," general manager Thomas Eichin told Bild.
"But we do not need to discuss such rumours. It is totally unrealistic for us to make a move for him."
Podolski's contract expires next summer.
