Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he has to factor the size of the squad before making any decisions over his transfer activity this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with moves for Raheem Sterling and Morgan Schneiderlin to bolster their squad, while Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo are poised to return from loan spells away from the club.
He told reporters: "The squad is the right number but the competition is right, not too big because too big kills competition, too short kills competition as well, so we have to find the right number that is a fair competition."
When asked if players would be sold before he could bring players into the club, Wenger added: "Chronologically you do not always decide that. Sometimes you have to decide 'okay, we have an opportunity, we do it and after we will see how we deal with the rest'."
Arsenal play West Bromwich Albion on the final day of the season.
