Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson insists that manager Arsene Wenger is the right man to turn around the fortunes of the North London outfit.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson believes that manager Arsene Wenger deserves respect for what he has brought to the North London club.

Pressure has been mounting on the Frenchman following a number of disappointing results in the Premier League and reports have claimed that Wenger has decided to hold off talks over a new contract until the summer.

"For a guy who has finished in the top four and got us to the best 15 years in the history of the club," Wilson told BBC Radio Four. "Someone who has won things that no other manager has won, I'm notably talking about the unbeaten season and no manager has won that, obviously we have amazing faith in him.

"I would be upset if he wasn't saying we have to find a solution to the problem. I don't think they'll slip further. But they have to accept that they are going to have to pay the wages which they never have paid."

Arsenal are currently placed in 10th position in the league table.
