Roberto Firmino '£82m buyout clause not allowed to be triggered by Arsenal'

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino reportedly has a stipulation in his contract that prevents Arsenal from triggering his alleged £82m release clause.

Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino reportedly has an £82m release clause written into his contract, but rivals Arsenal are prohibited from triggering it.

Whistleblowers Football Leaks have published details of the Brazilian's deal at Anfield, which allegedly includes a stipulation involving the North London outfit.

According to Le Soir, Firmino can be bought out of his contract if a club meets the staggering price tag, but according to the alleged documents, the clause only comes into force "if the interested club is not Arsenal".

The Reds clashed with the Gunners in 2013 when Arsene Wenger and his club tried to sign Luis Suarez by offering £40m and an additional £1, in the hope of activating what they believed was a release clause.

A transfer failed to materialise, and a year later, Suarez left Anfield to join Spanish giants Barcelona in a reported £65m deal.

Firmino has become an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's team at Liverpool having played in all but one of the team's 14 Premier League games this season.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in all competitions and produced three assists.
